Dalla stop touring - statement 2017
After 18 years of a fantastic, passionate, musical adventure, we decided to stop performing as the band Dalla at the end of September 2017. This decision was made after much deliberation, some sadness but also with great pride.
From the beginning, and with the name Dalla (which loosely means beginnings or to dazzle), our vision was to bring traditional Cornish Celtic music to new audiences not only at home and in the Celtic world but beyond this and to contribute to the growing celebration of this music!
Dalla, in all its brilliant line-ups and collaborations with other first-class musicians, certainly did that. We produced five critically acclaimed albums, and performed countless times locally, nationally and internationally, reaching many new audiences for Cornish music, and inspiring many other musicians to play it too.
As a live band, Dalla were key to the growing awareness of Cornish Celtic music, celebrating its unique and extraordinary treasures and encouraging evermore people to join the party! This continues through Dalla's recorded works, and the continuing work of all the individual members in other projects.
We are very proud of our legacy; it was a fabulous, fun filled, and meaningful adventure!
We would like to thank you all for your fantastic, loyal support and for sharing with us in this amazing musical experience! The journey isn’t over yet and we’re all looking forward to the future and what it may bring.
There may be the occasional re-union or new projects involving Dalla's recordings. The best way to keep abreast of latest updates is to follow Dalla on facebook. If you're into dancing, the 'dance arm of Dalla' is called Skillywidden, they play for Cornish nos lowen dancing, and these events will be posted on the nos lowen facebook page.
